• This excellent parent unit on the Great Depression is comprised of many resources. The unit begins with an overall plan, syllabus and calendar and includes external links to information on Reader’s Workshop and Literature Circles which are integral parts of this unit. Each of the next 25 lessons or children is designed with best practices in teaching. The lessons on building background knowledge invite students to learn about the 1930’s using a webquest packet as well as resources from the PBS American Experience collection. There are integrated lessons on synthesizing information, summarizing, indentifying conflict, sequencing, plot, prediction, and assessment.
