Module Introduction
This module is the first from Curriki’s Problem Solving through Computational Thinking for Educators: Online Professional Development Training for Middle and High School Teachers ( http://library.curriki.org/oer/Problem-Solving-through-Computational-Thinking-for-Educators-Online-Professional-Development-Training-for-Middle-and-High-School-Teachers/ ). It introduces the concept of Computational Thinking and sets the stage for the four units to follow.

The course is aligned to Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) K-12 Computer Science Standards 5.2 Level 2: Computer Science and Community, as well as Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Mathematics.

Module Overview
This module introduces the concept of Computational Thinking and sets the stage for the four units to follow. The first video reviews the steps in a common problem solving method, explores the operational definition of Computational Thinking and provides clarifications about what Computational Thinking is, and is not. Part 2 delves into the importance of Computational Thinking, some key terminology, concepts and processes (an overview of rest of course) and discusses how Computational Thinking ties into several sets of educational standards.
