Reviewer Comments:
- This resource takes students through the process of conducting in-depth research on an African country in order to create a grant proposal. The lesson is completely Internet based with all necessary directions and materials linked to the lesson. Students follow the detailed procedures that include guided questions and required online methods of notetaking (mindmeister.com) and blogging. The assignment is comprehensive in giving students the opportunity to learn about a specific country in Africa with the goal of explaining why it is worthy of aid from the Gates Foundation to be a leader in economic development in the region. Students are also expected to do research on the factors that have led to China’s economic development in order for there to be thoughtful comparisons. It should be noted that this is a large webquest. Depending on the time allotted for the project, it might be appropriate to break up some of the research tasks between group members or provide the background information on China as a model prior to the project.
