• This is an organized, varied, and well thought-out unit about the symbolism of the American flag. The unit plan covers Georgia standards, objectives, goals, time allotments, key vocabulary words, and much more. There are five individual lesson plans that provide teachers with step by step directions on how to implement the activities. Some of the highlights include a field trip to the school flag to make observations, an analysis of the meaning of the pledge of allegiance, a skit related to rules and behavior, and the creation of class flags. It should be noted that while the majority of resources are linked or attached to the lesson plans, there are a few materials that will need to be gathered in order to fully implement the lessons.
