This folder contains lessons, images, assessments, and activities for the solar system. The goal of this series is to introduce students to various objects in our solar system and provide students with an understanding the magnitude of our solar system.

This activity attempts to help students visualize the enormity of the solar system, both in terms of distance and relative size of the planets. The students literally walk through the solar system and examine model planets and distances that are accurately scaled to known sizes and distances in our solar system.

Solar System Assessment

by Meredith Beaton
Students are asked to apply all of their new knowledge about the planets and satellites in our solar system to create a travel brochure for a single travel destination (not Earth) in our solar system. They're expected to combine their artistic, linguistic, and scientific knowledge to create a convincing, creative, and aesthetic brochure.
