This measurement lesson plan is appropriate for upper elementary-school or middle-school students. It gives them different experiences exploring the concept of area and helps them understand the formula to find area. Students are first asked to find the area of squares on the floor by counting them and then by multiplying two sides together to determine if they are the same. Students are then asked to solve area problems on three different web sites. The first two sites are good and in connection with hands-on learning, will help students comprehend the area formula. The link for the third web site did not work. In addition, the contributor should explain what "OER" means. This lesson can be adapted by individual teachers to use within their own classrooms.
