calculators; the sports page for consecutive days - these can be supplied by the instructor in class or set as an outside activity.

30-45 minutes (if the activity is completed in class)
Using systems of equations, students will determine the missing components in the ratios used to determine batting average.

- The amount of explanation necessary will depend on the studentâ??s familiarity with the game of baseball.
- Students can be asked to share their findings.
- Take the students to a school baseball game and have them do the stats.
