Subject Matter: As a unit on outside reading projects, it is assumed that the best practice in reading strategy has already been taught. That is, how to be a close reader, think critically, interact with text, make connections, etc.
Deeper Learning: The resource engages learners to be self motivated and self directed. The responses elicited from students are to include critical thinking, learning how to learn, communicating effectively and constructing viable arguments.

Students will choose one book per semester (or quarter on a block schedule) to read outside class. One will be fiction, and the other will be biography, autobiography, or memoir.
