The directions include clear guidelines for the length, the number of specific references, and expectations for appropriate language. This activity would appeal to many students, and a possible follow-up could be to have the students perform their raps or songs in front of the class. For those who might struggle with this type of creativity, students could work in partners or small groups to complete the assignment. It would also be helpful to have a sample of a song or a rap to model for the class.
