This learning experience addresses the existing New York State core curriculum. Students will be able to identify the meaning of area, circumference, pi, diameter, and radius. This is part of the sixth grade core curriculum in mathematics. In order to succeed in this learning experience, students will need to have prior knowledge on the concept of area and the idea of pi, and should be able to identify the diameter and radius of a circle. They should also be able to use a ruler to measure accurately and be able to divide rational numbers and decimals.
