This lesson and follow-up presents students with information about the two ways Earth moves through the solar system as well as our position in the solar system and asks students to explore how our movement and/or position effect the seasons we experience on Earth.
This lesson introduces students to the two ways Earth moves through the solar system: rotation and revolution. Additionally, it introduces the Earth's tilt and presents leading questions about seasons at the end of the lesson.
This lab asks students to explore why we have seasons on Earth. By working with a partner, they develop a hypothesis and simulate the Earth's movement through the solar system and are able to observe and describe the reason we experience seasons on Earth.
