• This resource is a lesson plan on outsourcing and offshoring that is part of the developing and developed nations unit. The lesson begins with a review of the previous lesson’s content on human rights. Students read a handout that provides a simple overview of the key concepts and they are then asked to participate in a think tank activity to apply what they have learned. Students take on roles of low-skilled workers, business owners, and foreign workers and ask one another questions about outsourcing. While this is an effective way to help students gain a deeper understanding of the issues, it might help improve the dialogue if students are provided with more background information on the topic. The lesson also includes exit slip questions, evaluations, and follow-up homework questions. It should be noted that the lesson includes some classroom specific references and would need to be adapted by individual teachers.
