Reviewer Comments:
- This resource provides students with an introduction to human rights issues around the world. While the lesson is part of the larger unit on developing and developed nations, it could be used separately to focus only on human rights. The lesson includes a reading on human rights in various countries that the class studied and then looks specifically at the topics of privacy, press, and trials and how they compare in each country. There are also some thoughtful questions that check for understanding and encourage students to apply what they have learned in the lesson. It should be noted that the lesson has some specific classroom references that would need to be adapted by individual teachers.
