Reviewer Comments:
- This resource is a lesson plan from the unit on developing and developed nations. It focuses on China’s population and its policies around limiting continued growth. The lesson begins with a review of the content from the previous lessons and then has a reading on China that provides an overview of China’s response to population growth. There are thoughtful follow-up questions including a few that ask students to put themselves in the role of a Chinese citizen in order to evaluate the one child policy. The material could be supplemented to encourage students to research the topic further in preparation for a debate on population control around the world. It should be noted that there are some classroom specific lessons that would need to be adapted by individual teachers.
