Six Syllable Types

Dr. Carol Tolman is an educator and consultant, with over twenty years of experience, in reading, writing, and spelling.  Additionally, Dr. Louisa Moats is a nationally, well known teacher, psychologist, researcher, and author.  Not to mention, she served as one of the writers' for the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  She is a strong proponent of consistent and high standards for all grade levels.  As a educator and Common Core Coach for Reading Intervention, I found their article on the "Six Syllable Types" to be an excellent resource for teaching double letters in spelling and pronouncing vowels in new words.  Please check it out.
