Collection Contents


This unit is designed to be an 'educational option' for gifted students in the state of Ohio in grades 6-10. Teachers can use this unit to replace or enrich some portion of their Science curriculum that the student has already mastered. The standards addressed below are taken from the Ohio Academic Content Standards in Science. The 'Science and Technology' standards are directly addressed by this unit as well as various teacher/student selected standards in the other areas of Science (Earth and Space, Life, Physical, Inquiry and Ways of Knowing). Ohio Academic Content Standards in Technology (separate from Science) and several 'Life-Long Learning' goals are also addressed. *Please note that Scratch is also available in a number of languages.

Before a student begins the design of a game within this unit, it is recommended that the student have some background knowledge in a specific area of the Ohio Academic Content Standards. This can be accomplished in one of three ways: 1) The student comes to the unit with preexisting background knowledge. 2) The student has just completed a unit in the regular classroom. 3) The student completes a teacher-selected self-paced module.
