This resource challenges middle school or high school students to work collaboratively to design a new ergonomic chair that is still conducive to completing work or driving. They will also be responsible for producing an advertisement for their final product. Students are provided with the problem, task and rules. The 5-day process is clearly outlined. Brainstorming sheets and a Daily Research & Design Journal are provided. The included assessment provides an opportunity for feedback on seating angle, advertisement handout, technological design method product quality, presentation and teamwork. This activity is ready to go; educators can use this activity immediately in the classroom with minimal to no modification or preparation. It may be helpful for teachers to develop some resources that students can use for background information on ergonomic design.
