Internet Safety Censorship Letter

Students will plan, draft, revise, edit and publish persuasive letters arguing for or against their school districts' censorship of certian social networking websites.

To plan their letters students will describe (5) pros and (5) cons relating to thier school district's censorship policy. Students must consider both sides of the arugument based on court rulings, their web quest students and viewing the "Film Growing Up Online." 

Students may use the organizer below to gather information to include in their letter.

1st paragraph – Introduce yourself and state your position for or against the school district website censorship policy.

 

2nd paragraph – Provide 3 facts / valid opinions to support your position.

 

3rd paragraph – Provide 3 facts / valid opinions as a counter argument to your position

 

4th paragraph -  Restate your position for or against the school district’s website censorship policy.

 

5th paragraph – Conclude your letter by requesting the school district to consider your position and ask for a response to your letter.
