Earth's Atmosphere
This folder contains a lesson, images, and an assessment about Earth's atmosphere. Up to this point, student's have been studying and working with Newton's Laws of motion, and this lesson, in particular, answers the question, "What is a rocket pushing against when it is launched?"

Earth's Atmosphere
by Meredith BeatonThis lesson attempts to answer the question, "What exactly is pushing back on a rocket when it is launched?" Up to this point, students have worked with Newton's Laws of Motion and rocket launches, but haven't yet answered the question of why we need so much force when launching rockets. This lesson introduces students to the composition, layers, and pressure of the atmosphere.
Earth's Atmosphere Assessment
by Meredith BeatonThis assessment is a series of short answer questions about Earth's atmosphere based on the lesson "Earth's Atmosphere." Also, there is an article for students to read about the atmospheric effects on baseball games (this is relevant because our school is in Boston, and most of our students are Boston Red Sox fans). You may want to find a different resource for your students, or feel free to use this one.
