Reviewer Comments:
- This resource is an in-depth webquest that informs students about the electoral process and current issues at the forefront of American politics. The webquest is completed in groups with each member taking on a different role (republican, democrat, or state representative). Groups are assigned a current issue to research and links are provided to credible websites. After conducting research, students are required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and conduct a debate on the issue to share with the class.
Along with the student directions, there is a teacher resource page that addresses how the lesson appeals to all types of learners, identifies key standards, and discusses evaluation. There is a useful rubric provided for assessing the PowerPoint and the debate. Overall, a very good lesson that encourages students to become informed and to participate in the electoral process.
