• This is a very creative lesson plan that helps students gain a better understanding of the concept of cultural diffusion. Students participate in a hands on experiment to illustrate diffusion, create their own civilizations to simulate cultural diffusion, and then discuss and write about how it has occurred in our world today. The overall lesson is well thought-out and engaging. The lesson plan has objectives, detailed procedures, a list of materials, and ideas for an extension activity. This activity could be used during a unit on geography or culture in a variety of Social Studies classes.
