• Created by digital artist born in Poland and now living in Australia, “The Breathing Earth” is an interesting real-time simulation that “displays the CO2 emissions of every country in the world, as well as their birth and death rates.” Using information from birth and death rate statistics (2010) from the CIA World Factbook and CO2 emission rates (2006) from the United Nations Statistics Division, this resource visualizes data in an engaging way. Scroll down the page, and one will find more information about CO2 and climate change. This resource would be a good conversation-starter in a wide variety of classroom activities.

Although there are no lessons that accompany this resource, I find it very useful for students to generate their own questions for further inquiry.
