• This excellent resource provides a thorough 8 page handout that explains the use of contractions with the irregular verb “to be,” i.e. isn’t, aren’t. The illustrations are colorful photographs of friendly people of all ages, set in the present time. Examples are presented with the adjectives, happy and young. A practice section invites the student to create contractions for the verb “to be” and use them affirmatively or negatively, i.e. I’m not young; they’re young. This handout is graphically appealing, informatively organized and pedagogically concise. This will be useful to any age second language learner who is learning to conjugate and make contractions with the very “to be.”
