• This resource is a collection of materials on US Foreign Aid to Nigeria and Elsewhere submitted by the World Affairs Council. The unit has background information, clear objectives, detailed procedures, and all of the necessary handouts to implement the unit. All of the materials are excellent. The content is current, accurate, and accessible to students at the recommended grade levels. Some of the highlights include an introductory activity that has students think about aid to others on a personal level and then has them make connections to foreign aid and guided questions on two articles about US foreign aid policy. Along with these specific activities, there are a whole series of links to relevant articles that students can use to conduct research on a foreign aid topic. The materials are based on Washington State Standards around content based assessments and could be easily integrated into classes around the country studying such topics as global issues or economics.

  (U.S. Foreign Policy - High School CBA) These lesson plans, activities, and resources will help students who wish to examine U.S. policy in distributing foreign aid. Topics addressed include the new "tough-love" policy for foreign aid; President Bush's "new compact for global development" and the Millennium Challenge Corporation; the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, which established USAID; and foreign aid to Nigeria. Students can use these resources to focus on foreign aid in general, U.S. aid to Nigeria, or U.S. aid to a different country or region.
