In this brief introductory activity, high school students work with basics ideas in stoichiometry using Oreo cookies (and their constituent parts) instead of reactants and products. Ideas such as excess reactant, percent yield and error analysis and prevention are introduced in a fun and engaging way. Teacher notes are included to ease implementation, although there is no formal assessment connected to the activity. The activity is intended for students in grades 11 – 12, but this activity could certainly be used with younger students if the curriculum supports its use.
