• This lesson plan about the Great Depression is aligned with Georgia State Standards and the National Educational Technology Standards. The lesson plan includes objectives, procedures, ideas for differentiation, and necessary materials. Students research news stories about the Great Depression and then write their own article about the event. While the overall lesson idea is very good, it would be valuable to include more background content as well as create a student assignment handout with detailed requirements. It should be noted that although the lesson was submitted as fifth grade curriculum, the Great Depression is a complex topic that is also taught at the high school level.
